Type 1 Symptoms:
The exact cause of Type 1 Diabetes is unknown, but it has been shown to correlate to the genetic makeup of individuals. In these individuals, the body’s immune system destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas by mistake. And the hormone insulin, which regulates blood glucose level, is not produced to perform its function.
Type 2 Symptoms:
Type 2 Diabetes is often termed as the body gaining insulin resistance. The body either does not produce sufficient insulin, or cells have become unresponsive to the effects of insulin.
This has been attributed to lifestyle habits such as inactivity and having excess weight.
Type 1 Diabetic patients are treated with insulin injections, while Type 2 Diabetic patients take medication to maintain their blood sugar level.
